They say invention is borne out of necessity and 17 years ago with two girls aged 8 & 10 my necessity was flip flops - pink ones, blue ones, red ones, sparkly ones, the ones with sequins on, the ones with flowers on etc……I was reluctant to spend money on loads of different pairs that would either be discarded or grown out of within a year, not to mention the environmental impact of all that plastic.
And so, 17 years later, during a pandemic and enforced lockdown I finally had time to perfect my idea and realised that footwear that could be accessorised to match any outfit would appeal to all ages and be particularly useful on holidays where packing space is limited. Why take several pairs of flip flops or wedges when one of each will do?
I have always been creative and love art and music but running a Hotel & Refurbishment business with my husband and bringing up two children meant I never had the time to pursue my interests. Finally I have had the time to indulge in my passion for art and set up a new business to boot!
It has been a long, arduous road and a lot of going back to the drawing board perfecting the ClipFlop so that it is comfortable, durable and stylish, not to mention the exact positioning of the fasteners and sourcing the right attachments. But is has also been so much fun designing the rest of the collection and creating the different flowers with an exciting array of colours and thinking of all the ways we can incorporate these uplifting accessories into our wardrobe - check out our plans for Spring 2022.
It has also been a joy to have my lil sis on board - not only my best friend but my biggest fan and a great support, both commercially and emotionally (we all need a shoulder to cry on!) She has a great eye for detail, a passion for sales and marketing and a fantastic network of colleagues and friends who are all very loyal to her, a testament to her generous, honest spirit.

My love in life has always been sales and marketing. All our family are very creative but my sister has always been the most talented one in art and design so when she came up with the idea of ClipFlops I was immediately hooked.
I have spent most of my working life in Opthalmic's and Sunglasses selling brands like Polo Ralph Lauren, Gucci, Celine, Police and Fendi to name but a few. I also worked as Product and Marketing Manager for Rodenstock looking after Fila, Cerruti and Karl Lagerfeld eyewear. I had the pleasure of putting together the Sunglass Collection for The Wimbledon Lawn Tennis Club so to me building a brand is second nature. I love attention to detail.
With Amanda’s artistic talent and my love of branding, sales and marketing we make a dynamic team. My sister has always been my best friend so to wake up every day and work together is an absolute joy.
On this incredible journey we’ve had huge highs, equally huge lows and self-doubt but one thing that has never wilted is our intense passion and belief in all our ClipCo Products and Designs.
It’s been a challenge but amazing setting up a new business during Covid and coupled with the fact we share the full time care of our elderly mother with dementia we have certainly had our hands full juggling it all.
But here we are ready to launch after two years of hard work, planning, designing and purchasing – the fun is about to begin!
